SMTP Configuration when using Gmail

When sending emails through Outbound via your Gmail account, complete the following steps to ensure it is securely configured and your emails will arrive at their destination.

Gmail will generate a secure password for you to input to your SMTP settings in the Administration page.

First, click Security in your Gmail account.

If you haven't already, enable 2-Step Verification.

When this is done, click App passwords to create your unique password.

Select Mail from the app dropdown, and then choose Windows Computer, regardless of whether you are using a Mac or a Windows Computer. This is because Outbound works from Windows, so the user's browser is not relevant.

Click Generate.

Copy your new app password.

Under Email SMTP settings in Administration, select Custom as your Provider, enter your Gmail address in the User name field, and enter the App password in the Password field.
